Mountain Chalet
Design Among the Peaks
Anyone setting foot in this old village in southwest Switzerland understands its magnetic appeal. Direct slope access and panoramic views make this attractive site, overlooking the majestic peaks of the area, the perfect location for an inviting holiday home. The client purchased the top two floors, including the penthouse of the chalet with the vision of a retreat where they could unwind, entertain friends, and embrace the mountain lifestyle year-round. It became a true alpine sanctuary, both timeless and tailor-made. The two connected apartments include two kitchens, three living rooms, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a home office, all linked by an internal staircase and an elevator for convenience.

The design embraces warmth and sustainability, with robust, locally sourced materials and a natural colour palette. The total space spans approximately 400 sqm, including an outdoor spa. The penthouse living area features a custom-designed room divider, clad in regional stone, housing a dual-sided fireplace. This creates two inviting zones, both complete with bespoke wool rugs, smart storage, and generous seating.
The views are simply sublime. The mountain ridges inspired a custom textile, while ski lift cabins glide right past the living room window, placing the Alps in direct view. Soaring ceilings, up to five metres in height, call for standout art; a sculptural installation by Pleunie Buyink draws the eye upward in a beautiful sense of infinity. Subtle textures, natural tones, and thoughtful layout choices make this chalet a refined alpine haven, perfectly attuned to both landscape and lifestyle.
